Shannon (Shan to her buddies) is never far from her pink laptop or many of the other multitudes of computers in her life. “I sleep with my laptop – the warmth comforts me!” Although she loves to travel, short bursts (4 days or less) are key for her. “I can’t sit still too long and be cut off from the world – I have a lot to do before I leave it!” She has a degree in Network Engineering and founded a successful on-site computer training and repair business that thrived for ten years before she turned exclusively to the e-learning field. Not one to shy away from a challenge, Shannon has lived on her own since the age of 17. She had to learn many things herself, which gave her a firm understanding of adult learning processes first hand. “I had to figure out things on my own and consequently developed a strong understanding of the importance of communicating and learning the little things that others might take for granted. When I teach a concept to someone, I never, ever assume they know the basics. I start at the ground level and work up.” She applies this method to her e-learning course development and her consulting sessions. In her adult life, she’s had the pleasure of remodeling three homes, captaining her own boat, traveling the world, and acquiring many friends along the way. She can’t fall asleep at night without reading and thrives on her RSS news feeds delivered to her in-box. She studied acting and improv for two years, even starring in a few local commercials. You’ll even hear her voice-overs in some of Kick Learning’s modules! She eats and breathes e-learning and loves and appreciates the people and opportunities that this industry has brought into her life. In her “down” time, she cuddles with her fat feline, Mosi (he’s even flown to Vegas with her – how about that!). She started running in 2008 and has always been an avid swimmer. Always looking for a new challenge, she would love to learn how to ride a motorcycle and maybe even take up another language. Til then, she loves to spend time with her family that spreads from North Carolina to Boston to Las Vegas. “Lots to do, lots to see! Gotta go!”
